About the role:  Our client is currently recruiting a Design Coordinator to join our established design coordination department. The successful Design Coordinator will be responsible for liaising with a number of internal and external stakeholders to deliver the tender and construction drawings in line with the procurement and construction programmes.  The successful Design Coordinator will be heavily involved with the Traditional House Building department of our business, so experience within House Building is vital.

About the Responsibilities:

  • Ensure designer risk assessments and residual risk evaluations have been done by the design team and are filled, acting as the principal designer.
  • Issue buying and procurement departments with information packages for quantifying, tendering, and purchasing equipment and materials for site.
  • Report on any risks, slippages in the issuing of information against programme, lack of coordination on the drawing and specification received from the design team and D&B subcontractors.
  • Maintain knowledge of the changes/updates to current legislation and regulation which affects the design team and site processes.
  • Liaise with the sales department and/or development manager to ensure the clients sales spec is delivered on site. Notify line manager of any changes in the design pack that does not reflect the agreed sales specification.

About the Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (Architect/Engineer background) would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Design/Graphic Packages, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of leading and implementing design on a broad range of projects, with particular knowledge and experience in low rise & exposure to volume housebuilding.
  • Successful track record of leading complex design projects, proven ability to define and implement the right strategy depending on the circumstances and requirements.
  • An understanding of modern and traditional construction techniques including piling, RC and Timber Frame structures, traditional brick and block loadbearing structures, cladding systems, mechanical and electrical services, fit-out trades
