SSA are recruiting on behalf of a Carpentry and Joinery contractor serving the Commercial and Residential sectors in London and the Home Counties, our client is actively looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join their team.

The successful candidate will ideally come from a Sub – Contract background, ideally with experience in Carpentry / Joinery / Fit Out projects.

About the role:

  • Maintain the IMS to ISO standards 45001, 14001 & 9001, including other company accreditations – Achilles, SMAS, CHAS, Considerate Constructor Scheme (CCS), Constructionline
  • Carryout monthly internal audits on the IMS
  • Conduct monthly site Health & Safety compliance inspections and audits – multiple sites
  • Attend PC site meetings as required
  • Advise site management & site staff on Health and Safety matters.
  • Assist in the production, monitoring and review of method statements, Task Plans, risk assessments and work package plans.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root cause.
  • Issuing relevant H&S Bulletins to site
  • Review Sub-Contractors’ RAMS
  • Assist with and/or deliver Inductions, tool-box talks and briefings.
  • Assist in the preparation of Health & Safety packs.
  • Regularly review and update the head office Fire Plan and fire risk assessment
  • Assist in setting and updating monthly objectives and targets
  • Reviewing Friday Packs

Qualifications/experience:

  • Minimum NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent, preferred NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Working towards, or possessing of Grad IOSH
  • Internal or Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Appropriate CSCS Card
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant H&S Legislation
  • Experience with managing ISO accredited Management system
  • Previous experience working on main PC residential projects, preferably fit out
  • 3/5 years working in a senior H&S role
  • Ability to work autonomously
