About the client: My client are one of the largest specialist dry lining contractors in the UK, with a turnover in the region of £65m. They provide a range of dry lining services to clients in London and the South East, covering both residential and commercial developments. Their portfolio of delivered projects range in value from £500k to £21m and include major hospitals, education facilities, airports, stadiums, shopping centres and some of the UK’s most prestigious commercial and high-end residential buildings.
About the role: We have an opportunity available for a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team as part of one of our distinguished projects. Quantity Surveyors are a crucial part of the project team, dealing with all commercial aspects to ensure projects are delivered to programme and achieve or exceed target margins.
Responsibilities include;
- Attend formal handover meetings between pre & post contract teams.
- Strong awareness of key responsibilities and obligations of subcontracts and an understanding of the work scopes to advise site teams.
- Thoroughly interrogate tenders and prepare detailed tender summaries.
- Regularly and accurately monitor comprehensive preliminaries budgets and targets (relative to the tender summary).
- Establish, set, monitor and pay against comprehensive labour and materials budgets and targets using companies cost management system.
- Early preparation of quantified material/component schedules for both ordering/loading purposes and to enable the negotiation of optimum rates.
- Comprehensive management of the project variation account, maintaining a ‘rolling’ final account where all variations are identified, acknowledged, valued and recorded.
- Prepare and submit all applications for payment in accordance with the relevant subcontract conditions. Proactively monitor, update, receive, forecast and report on project cash flow (income & expenditure).
- Ensure all notices and payments (including retention release) are fair and received on time and in accordance with the subcontract.
- Accurately prepare all internal reporting (inc. CVR, Internal Valuation, MOS).
- Tender, let & administer subcontract packages.
- Timely submission and agreement of final accounts.
- Prepare for and attend Job Progress Report /Cost Value Reconciliation review meetings.
About You
- Degree qualified in quantity surveying/other relevant business discipline.
- Previous quantity surveying experience (min 3 years).
- Proven trade contractor experience, preferably drylining.
- Strong interpersonal skills – capable of maintaining strong working relationships internally and with our clients.
