Description

Working as part of the team, the controller will be responsible for all accounting duties ranging from bookkeeping to preparation of reports and various tax, payroll and year-end filings. In addition to basic duties, the controller will be heavily involved in process development.
 
The duties of the Controller may include but are not limited to:
 

  • Oversee and mentor a growing accounting team;
  • Oversee the accounting function to ensure financial processes and information are accurate, timely, and contain adequate controls;
  • Manage full cycle accounting duties, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and benefits, journal entries, inter-company, reconciliations, and consolidations;
  • Manage and review tax payments/instalments, provisions, working papers, and filings;
  • Lead, develop, and coach the accounting team to maintain employee engagement and motivation in a high-growth environment;
  • Develop, improve, implement, and document accounting policies and procedures;
  • Manage internal control systems and recommend improvements to ensure the continued integrity of the company’s financial information;
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors, coordinating annual audits and tax returns;
  • Compile, review, and perform variance analyses on monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for multiple projects;
  • Support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data for various stakeholders;
  • Assist the executive team with researching and implement technology improvements to support the company’s growth and automate manual processes;
  • Assist the finance team with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and project models, as required;
  • Assisting in cash management processes, including cash flow projections

 
 

Skills & Requirements

 

  • Ideal candidate shall have at least 5 to 7 years of related work experiences, including supervisory experience. Background in real estate industry is an asset;
  • Accounting designation such as CPA or equivalent education;
  • Self-motivated, high attention to details, accuracy, and strong technical, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Real estate construction/development experience would be an asset;
  • Familiarity with Sage 100 or 300 Software would be an asset;
  • Familiarity with Wrike is an asset;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Fluent in english;
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and ERP

 
 

Licence/Certification

 

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation .
