Senior Estimator

SSA is working on behalf of one of the top ten general contractors in Canada and part of the largest construction organization in North America, they have build many complex, iconic projects throughout the country and have a well-respected brand.

The business is currently in the process of opening up their 5th office in Canada and are looking for experienced an experienced Senior Estimator in the Vancouver market to start building their local team. The position will be involved in commercial/mix-use/institutional/Industrial build projects throughout the city; they need someone who’s got a background completing projects to a high-standard, and has a strong network in the lower mainland.

Reporting to the Manager of Estimating and Preconstruction, the Senior Estimator will provide and coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work and various types of contracts.

 

Senior Estimator Duties/Responsibilities May Include:

 

  • Integrate with engineers, architects, and owners, on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and may assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.
  • The preparation of proposals and estimates for the Manager’s final approval prior to their presentation to potential clients at bid closing.
  • Trades and suppliers.
  • Supervise junior estimating staff.
  • Submission of approved tenders on time.
  • Accurate and timely submission of bid results forms.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • A Post-Secondary Certificate/Degree in Engineering or the equivalent of a designated Professional Engineer or a Technical School graduate in a Construction related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience (with at least four years estimating experience) in a similar facility of construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of, estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems and accounts required.
  • Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus the ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort is essential.
  • Can lead, mentor, motivate and develop junior team members.
