Title: Assistant Project Manager
Location: Edmonton, AB – Projects across Alberta and British Columbia
 
Overview:
 
We are actively seeking two Assistant Project Managers to oversee various construction projects (industrial, civil, mechanical, and piping) across Alberta and British Columbia. This role requires onsite work on a rotational basis for the entirety of the project.
 
Role Responsibilities:
  • Project Coordination: Report directly to the Project Manager, taking charge of all planning, procurement, and design phases post-contract. Manage costs, ensure adherence to schedules, and act as a primary liaison between our company and clients.
  • Purchasing Oversight: Oversee the preparation of material and subcontract requisitions, ensure vendor quotes align with technical and quality standards, approve purchase orders, and monitor compliance with schedules, expediting as needed.
  • Planning and Execution: Lead the creation of budgets and schedules, oversee work order preparations, manage procurement of critical items, and integrate technical specifications into project strategies.
  • Contract and Project Management: Maintain oversight of project schedules and material statuses, compile comprehensive project reports detailing cost and schedule performance against expectations, and engage regularly with client representatives to discuss contractual, scheduling, and technical matters.
  • Change Management: Estimate and document all project changes including orders, notifications, and quality turnover documentation.
  • Document Control: Supervise all activities related to document control, encompassing client and internal documentation, regulatory compliance documents, and the distribution of drawings and specifications.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • 4-7 years of project management experience, ideally in heavy civil, industrial, mechanical, piping, and earthworks construction.
  • Degree or diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is preferred; CET designation is beneficial.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Proven skills in production scheduling and labor budget management.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation capabilities.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Gmail) and experience with Bluebeam and Primavera P6 software is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Steel toe boots required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work onsite in a rotational capacity.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as required for site access.
