Senior Geotechnical Engineer Location: Abbotsford, BC
Salary: $130,000 - $165,000 + benefits
Our client, a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is seeking a
Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in
Abbotsford, British Columbia. This organization delivers geotechnical, environmental, and materials engineering services to clients across a wide range of sectors including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, water resources, and industrial development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys leading technically challenging projects while mentoring junior staff and contributing to business growth. The role is primarily office-based with periodic field involvement depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Manage and deliver geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through to completion.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and technical reports.
- Conduct or review geotechnical analyses including stability assessments, foundation performance, deformation, and stress analysis using specialized engineering software.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Assist with project scoping, proposal preparation, and tender submissions.
- Participate in occasional field investigations and site visits as required.
- Travel periodically to project locations, client sites, or other offices.
Qualifications - Degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Graduate degree (MSc, MEng, or PhD) considered an asset.
- Significant experience in geotechnical engineering consulting, ideally within Canada.
- Experience with foundation design and analysis is considered an asset.
- Eligibility for professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Experience using geotechnical analysis software and standard engineering tools.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Compensation - $130,000 - $165,000 base salary depending on experience and qualifications.
- Candidates with exceptional experience may be considered above the posted range, while those with slightly less experience may be considered at an adjusted level.
