An opportunity is available for an experienced Design Manager (Or Architect with relevant experience)  to join an established construction team supporting major projects across Victoria and Queensland, (No travel required) 

You will play a key role in the design and coordination of large-scale residential and mixed-use developments, working closely with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, clients and construction teams to ensure designs are coordinated, compliant, commercially viable and ready for delivery.

The projects include a 22-storey residential development comprising 181 apartments, alongside a major multi-tower development featuring residential accommodation, luxury rooms and premium resident amenities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Manager, Architect or technically strong construction professional ready to step into a design leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage design documentation, consultant coordination and design programme delivery.
• Coordinate architects, structural engineers, services consultants, specialist designers and subcontractors.
• Review construction documentation, tender packages and shop drawings to identify design, cost and constructability risks.
• Drive value engineering initiatives while maintaining design quality, project requirements and commercial outcomes.
• Manage building permit applications, planning conditions, authority approvals and services connections.
• Track design deliverables, approval processes, sample submissions and shop drawing registers.
• Ensure designs comply with the National Construction Code, relevant Australian Standards and applicable legislative requirements.
• Resolve design issues during construction and collaborate with delivery teams to develop practical solutions.
• Manage client and stakeholder relationships, design meetings, reporting and project communications.
• Monitor design changes, contractual obligations, programme milestones and potential project risks.
• Provide leadership and guidance to design team members, promoting collaboration between design, pre-construction and construction teams.

About You: To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Experience in design management within the Australian construction industry.
• Exposure to Class 2 residential, Class 3 accommodation or mixed-use developments, ideally involving high-rise construction.
• A degree or relevant qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction detailing, buildability and design compliance.
• An understanding of wet-area detailing, balconies, passive fire requirements and building regulations.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants, subcontractors and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Aconex, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Clear communication skills, commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
