Our client is a well-established London-based construction, refurbishment, and fit-out contractor with a turnover of around £50 million, delivering projects exclusively within the public sector. Operating across education, healthcare, social housing, and local authority frameworks, they are known for quality, integrity, and strong client partnerships.
As part of continued growth, the business is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead its pre-construction and estimating function, managing a dedicated team, and driving best practice across all tendering activities.

Role Overview
The Estimating Manager will oversee the end-to-end estimating process for all public sector projects, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and competitiveness of all bids. The successful candidate will manage a team of six estimators, providing strategic direction, mentoring, and technical oversight to maintain a strong success rate within framework and negotiated opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of six estimators across a range of public sector projects (typically £3m – £10m).
• Oversee preparation and submission of accurate, competitive tenders and cost plans.
• Develop and maintain effective estimating systems, templates, and procedures.
• Collaborate with Pre-Construction, Commercial, and Delivery teams to ensure smooth project handovers.
• Review tender documentation, specifications, and drawings to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners during bid stages.
• Support strategic pricing decisions, aligning with company margin and quality objectives.
• Contribute to business development by supporting bid strategy and presentations.
• Mentor and develop junior estimators, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

Experience & Qualifications
• Proven experience leading an estimating function within a main contractor or fit-out contractor (ideally public sector focused).
• Successful track record delivering tenders for education, healthcare, housing, or local authority projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Commercially astute with a good understanding of value engineering and procurement strategy.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
