This role is flexible for several locations across BC, providing the opportunity to work on a variety of water resources, hydrology, and environmental monitoring projects.
Role Overview As a Hydrologist, you will contribute to the planning, analysis, and execution of hydrology, climate, and water resource projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support environmental studies, monitoring programs, and sustainable water management initiatives across British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities - Plan, lead, and participate in field programs for hydrologic and climatic data collection and monitoring.
- Compile, manage, and analyze hydrometric, hydrogeologic, climate, water quality, and water use data.
- Support site selection, study design, and reporting for hydrometric and climatological programs.
- Maintain and calibrate field equipment to ensure operational standards are met.
- Contribute to proposal development, budgeting, and client communications for water resource projects.
- Mentor and support junior technical staff.
- Develop and review project-specific health and safety plans and field protocols.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal teams and stakeholders.
Candidate Profile - Education: Master's degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in hydrology, water resources, or environmental monitoring.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient with data management software such as Aquarius.
- Strong background in hydrometric and groundwater monitoring, and surface water and groundwater sampling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting.
- Professional Credentials: P.Eng. or P.Geo., or eligibility to obtain registration in BC.
- Additional Assets: Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations is an advantage.
