Our client is a nationally established engineering consultancy with a strong reputation in asset integrity, structural reliability, and lifecycle management within heavy industrial sectors. With continued growth in Western Canada, they are seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) to join their specialized Asset Integrity team in Vancouver.

This role offers a balanced mix of technical design, structural assessments, and on-site inspections across complex industrial facilities.

The Opportunity

As part of the Asset team, you will focus on the evaluation, rehabilitation, and long-term performance of existing structures and critical infrastructure. The group supports clients across:
  • Mining and mineral processing
  • Bulk materials handling
  • Port and marine facilities
  • Heavy industrial and processing plants
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who enjoy applying structural engineering principles to real-world operating environments and who want exposure beyond traditional building design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, and timber systems within industrial settings
  • Conduct field inspections and condition assessments of existing structures and equipment
  • Prepare technical reports, repair packages, structural calculations, and construction drawings
  • Participate in site visits and field reviews (short-term travel required)
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Contribute to cost estimates, proposals, and project planning
  • Participate in internal design reviews to ensure quality and constructability
  • Support and mentor junior engineers where appropriate
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia
  • 5-10 years of structural engineering experience, ideally within industrial or heavy infrastructure environments
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian design standards (CSA, NBCC)
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA, SAP2000, or STAAD
  • Field review and condition assessment experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license
Assets:
  • Familiarity with American design codes (AISC, ACI, ASCE)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit
Why Consider This Role?
  • Hybrid flexibility (Vancouver-based)
  • Exposure to complex, operational industrial assets
  • Strong technical mentorship within a respected asset integrity group
  • Clear path toward increased responsibility and leadership
  • Diverse mix of field and office-based engineering work
This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to build a well-rounded technical foundation in structural integrity and reliability while working on meaningful industrial infrastructure projects.
