Our client is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Manager who is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing all mechanical and electrical elements of major construction projects across Ontario. This position leads the full M&E scope of buildings, from design review and procurement through installation, commissioning, and turnover. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to drive safety, quality, budget, and schedule performance while working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities - Temporary Services: Plan and manage temporary M&E requirements such as power, water, sewer, heating, and gas, ensuring site readiness and compliance for major build projects.
- Planning & Scheduling: Integrate mechanical and electrical activities into the overall project schedule, establish critical path activities, and monitor progress to avoid delays.
- Contract Oversight: Administer and enforce M&E-related contracts, manage change orders and subcontractor claims, and maintain accurate contract records.
- Coordination: Lead M&E coordination meetings, resolve design and sequencing conflicts, and serve as the primary point of contact for all M&E-related issues on site.
- Commissioning: Develop and execute commissioning plans, oversee start-up and testing, and ensure systems meet design, performance, and quality standards before project handover.
- Preconstruction Support: Provide input during proposal and estimating phases, offering guidance on scope, constructability, cost, and procurement strategies for M&E systems.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior team members, promote safety and compliance, and report on M&E performance to senior leadership and client representatives.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience managing mechanical and electrical scopes on large-scale construction projects for a general contractor
- Strong background in site coordination, commissioning, and contract administration.
- Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and construction coordination tools.
- Working knowledge of drawings, specifications, industry codes, and construction practices.
- LEED accreditation is an asset
- Bilingual communication skills are considered strong assets.
