Senior Mechanical Estimator
  
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator with at least 5 years of hands-on estimating experience who can independently manage the entire bid process, from initial document review through to final submission and project handoff.

This position is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of mechanical building systems, strong attention to scope control, and the ability to produce accurate and well-supported cost estimates, whether using estimating software or traditional methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of complete mechanical estimates covering HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems
• Develop hard bids, preliminary budgets, and design-build estimates
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and bid documents in detail
• Perform quantity take-offs and develop accurate labour and material pricing
• Source and evaluate supplier and vendor quotations
• Review subcontractor pricing and ensure the full project scope is captured
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential project risks during the estimating process
• Provide value engineering recommendations where appropriate
• Compile and submit complete bid packages
• Coordinate post-award handoff to the project management team
• Attend site walks and pre-bid meetings when required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mechanical estimating experience (required)
• Demonstrated experience estimating HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules, and details
• Working knowledge of Trimble Mechanical and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to prepare full estimates independently and confidently price work with or without estimating software
• Experience working on industrial, commercial, institutional, or warehouse projects
• Experience with design-build estimating is considered a strong advantage
• Background in mechanical engineering or construction preferred
