Technical Buyer - Data Center Projects (m/f/d)
Location: Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Company
Our client is a well-established general contractor with a strong reputation in large-scale industrial and commercial construction. After successfully expanding into the data center market, the company is now strengthening its specialized MEP and procurement teams to support ongoing projects across Germany.
Role Overview
As a Technical Buyer, you will be a central figure in the delivery of technically complex data center projects. Working closely with MEP leaders, project directors, and procurement teams, you will lead the sourcing, negotiation, and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing packages and materials.
Main responsibilities:
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for MEP packages, from tendering and technical evaluation through to contract award.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, RFPs, and specifications.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers to achieve optimal pricing and contract terms.
  • Collaborate closely with project and engineering teams to ensure alignment between technical and commercial objectives.
  • Build relationships with local and international supply chain partners.
  • Maintain procurement records and pricing databases to support transparent cost management.
Candidate Profile
  • Technical or engineering degree (e.g., mechanical, electrical, industrial, or construction-related).
  • Previous experience in MEP procurement or technical buying, ideally within the construction or general contracting environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical documentation and communicate effectively with engineers.
  • Skilled negotiator with strong commercial awareness.
  • Fluent in German (required) and English (essential).
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with a collaborative approach and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Candidates with mixed technical and commercial backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
Offer & Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary: €60,000 - €80,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus and regular salary review (approx. 2.5-3% per year).
  • 32 vacation days and standard employee benefits package.
  • Structured onboarding period (first 3-4 months on site, Monday to Friday).
  • Long-term flexibility with partial remote work (approx. 1 day/week after onboarding).
  • Dynamic and fast-paced environment with direct communication and short decision-making paths.
Hiring Process
  • Step 1: Initial screening with HR/talent acquisition.
  • Step 2: Final interview with senior project and MEP leadership.
  • Step 3: Offer decision issued directly by the project branch.
This is an excellent opportunity for technically minded procurement professionals who want to be part of a growing division in one of Europe's most in-demand construction sectors.
