They have over a £4 billion portfolio of over 7,520 homes and 325,236 square feet of commercial developments under construction.

About the role: My client is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join their established Construction department in Birmingham. They have successfully secured planning permission for a 521-unit residential development, as well as a further 368-unit scheme, both of which are in the Birmingham area.

About the Responsibilities:

  • Be actively involved in the detailed review, analysis, and monitoring of the procurement and construction works including specialist subcontractors as well as the design delivery by the design teams, including specialist consultants, to manage the Project Master Programme.
  • Carry-out site progress meetings with the subcontractors to ensure the effective and efficient organisation of labour etc.
  • Where necessary support the project team with review and analysis of the programme to assist with resolution of claims and change orders.
  • Promote and foster a strong team culture with transparent and open communication within the project team and throughout the business.
  • Work closely on a day-to-day basis with the design team and the specialist subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that production targets are achieved, and high quality of product is maintained.
  • Review actual design and construction progress and prepare and maintain and updated project programme in conjunction with the project planner.
  • Ensure that all RAMS for both direct and subcontract works are in place and suitable for the activities being undertaken / as listed in the Risk Register.

About the requirements:

  • Experience of leading and implementing a broad range of projects, managing subcontracts, supply chains and ensuring service performance.
  • Must have experience working on large high-rise residential projects, ideally for another property developer or similar.
  • Proven ability to define and implement the right strategy depending on the circumstances and requirements.
  • Successful track record of leading complex negotiations.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years Project Management experience. We would consider someone who is currently employed as a Senior Project Manager looking for a move, or a Project Manager ready for their next step up.
  • Must have an understanding of modern construction techniques including:
    • Piling
    • Reinforced Concrete Structures
    • Cladding Systems
    • Mechanical and Electrical services
    • Fit-out trades
    • An understanding of preconstruction activities
  • Must have good general knowledge of tendering and procurement and be able to use Microsoft Office applications efficiently.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant will have a driver’s license.
