Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor – High-End Carpentry/Fit Out Contractor – North London/Herts

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the U.Ks leading high-end Carpentry & Joinery contractors as a Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor.

About the Client:

SSA is recruiting on behalf of a Construction company specializing in Carpentry & Joinery, working on behalf of principal contractors.  The company has an extensive workload across London and the Home Counties and currently running 10-20 projects.

The company is involved in Residential, Commercial, Educational, Hotel Developments and is now looking at recruiting the following member of staff to the head office.

They are now seeking to recruit a Senior QS capable of managing several projects, ideally who comes from a  carpentry and joinery background either with a subcontractor or in a similar role or with the main contractor where you have gained exposure to carpentry & joinery packages.

You will be responsible for cash management, by minimizing cost and maximising value through proactive analysis and facilitation of works packages and the building process to maximise the profitability of the business. Contain, control and accurately report past costs and future financial projections.  Adhere and engage with the Quality Management system (ISO9001) and other company procedures as appropriate.

Some of the Requirements:

  • Have a knowledge and understanding of compliance with Health and Safety legislation, policies, safety plans, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Attend and actively participate in design meetings, ensuring actions are cleared per agreed timescales

  • Produce buying analysis and obtain day work rates for approval by the Regional Director/Commercial Manager, before an order is placed
  • Produce contract sum analysis and cash flow ensuring positive cash flow is maintained for the project
  • Prepare, agree and issue valuations in a timely fashion, to maximise cash position, including the pursuit of timely payments
  • Maintain sub-contractor valuations and payments in line within the subcontract conditions and The Company protocol
  • Produce buying analysis and obtain day work rates for approval by the Regional Director/Commercial Manager, before an order is placed
  • Produce and issue accurate and timely CVCs ensuring these are reviewed with the production team, for Commercial Manager/Regional Director approval

Salary up to £100K
