British Columbia based Full-Service Real Estate Developer and Builder based in Vancouver are currently seeking to hire 2 Project Accountants to their team. A long-term staple in the local market our client has a long established Property Management team for both residential, commercial and industrial buildings throughout the Vancouver and Lower Mainland areas.
The role is office based with great culture and growth potential for the right candidate – We are open to hiring one Senior Project Accountant and one more Junior with flexibility for each position. Property Accountants are responsible for the full-cycle accounting for a mixed portfolio of residential, commercial and industrial properties. This role will report to the company controller.
Responsibilities:
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and coordinate with AR/AP department ensuring payments are accurate and completed.
- File month-end reports in ledgers including but not limited to depreciation, restricted cash, intercompany, and tax provision.
- Prepare and file monthly GST returns, ensure all payments and credit balances are filed accordingly.
- Prepare monthly financial statements ensuring accuracy and lodge in company ledger.
- Prepare monthly spending statements and compare against pre-prepared budget.
- Participate in annual mortgage loan reviews as required by lenders.
- Prepare annual financial and operating statements, rental records, proof of property tax and insurance payments for mortgage reviews.
- Participate in annual CAM reconciliations and preparation of annual budget forecast.
- Work with all relevant Tax department officials with the preparation of annual financial statements for all relevant properties.
- Provide insight and input for annual external audit requirements, including but not limited to preparing year-end documentation, posting year-end journal entries and coordinating with all relevant parties.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years experience for Project Accountant.
- Minimum 4 years for Senior Project Accountant.
- Relevant University or College Degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field of study.
- High MS Excel proficiency with strong technical skills in general accounting software.
- Preferred previous experience with Yardi systems.
- Skilled problem solver who is highly analytical and great attention to detail.
- Someone who enjoys a collaborative work office environment.
- Great with time management, very organized and who can prioritize responsibilities to meet pressing deadlines.
