Compensation: $105,000 - $140,000 + benefits

We are currently representing a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm with a strong presence across Western Canada. Our client is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their Vancouver team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected, employee-focused organization known for delivering technically complex projects across infrastructure, development, and water-related sectors. The firm has built a strong reputation for technical depth, long-term client relationships, and a collaborative working environment.

The Opportunity

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of projects from proposal through to construction. This position places a strong emphasis on technical analysis and design, making it well suited to someone with a passion for geomechanics and problem-solving.

You will be involved in a broad range of projects — from smaller developments to large-scale infrastructure works — while also mentoring junior staff and contributing to overall project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and manage multiple geotechnical projects from proposal stage through to completion, including budgeting, resourcing, and client coordination
  • Perform geotechnical evaluations and analyses related to:
    • Foundation design (shallow and deep)
    • Slope stability
    • Temporary excavation and shoring systems
    • Liquefaction and seismic assessments
    • Soil improvement methods
    • Retaining wall design
  • Plan and oversee field investigations, including drilling programs, logging, sampling, construction inspections, and testing
  • Carry out advanced geotechnical analyses using modern industry tools and methodologies
  • Prepare and review technical proposals in response to RFPs
  • Author and review geotechnical reports and engineering drawings
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's degree considered an asset)
  • 8-10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Minimum 2 years of local British Columbia experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in temporary shoring design, foundation design, and seismic/geotechnical assessments
  • Experience managing projects, multiple deliverables, and deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Registered P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to attend project sites as required
Experience with water retention structures and dam safety would be considered an asset.

Why Consider This Role?
  • Exposure to technically challenging and diverse geotechnical projects
  • Strong technical team with mentorship and leadership opportunities
  • Stable and reputable organization with long-term project pipeline
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
If you're a technically driven Geotechnical Engineer looking to take the next step in your career within the Vancouver market, I would welcome a confidential conversation.
