Dam Construction Superintendent
Our client, a leading general contractor in Northern Ontario, is hiring an experienced Dam Construction Superintendent to join their project team in Kenora, ON. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven field leader who can oversee complex civil construction work and contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading dam construction activities from planning through execution, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong field leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to coordinate crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners in a demanding construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day dam construction activities, including earthworks, excavation, concrete placement, structural works, drainage, dewatering, and related civil scopes.
- Review project scopes, drawings, specifications, and schedules with the project manager and engineering team.
- Plan and supervise field operations, including manpower, equipment, sequencing, and subcontractor coordination.
- Monitor work progress to ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and contractual requirements.
- Support schedule management, problem-solving, and field decision-making to keep the project moving forward.
- Mentor and support field personnel to promote strong performance, accountability, and teamwork.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Assist with project documentation, reporting, and closeout activities as required.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of field experience in civil construction, with dam, concrete, or heavy infrastructure experience preferred.
- Proven ability to lead crews and manage subcontractors on complex construction projects.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle construction, from planning and execution through completion.
- Experience working on large-scale civil projects with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule performance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is an asset.
