Estimating Coordinator - General Contractor

Salary: $70,000 - 80,000
 
A well-established General Contractor in Hamilton, ON is looking to add an Estimating Coordinator to its growing team.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a construction, engineering, architectural, or estimating background who wants to develop their career within the ICI construction industry. Working alongside experienced Estimators and Project Managers, you will support the preparation of competitive bids, subcontractor pricing, quantity take-offs, tender documentation, and preconstruction activities.
 
The Role
 
As an Estimating Coordinator, you will support the estimating team throughout the tendering and preconstruction process. You will assist with reviewing drawings and specifications, coordinating subcontractor pricing, completing take-offs, organizing bid documentation, and ensuring tender requirements are completed accurately and on time.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of tenders, estimates, budgets, and bid submissions
• Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents
• Perform and assist with quantity take-offs and scope reviews
• Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
• Prepare and distribute bid invitations and tender packages
• Follow up with trades to ensure adequate bid coverage
• Assist with reviewing and comparing subcontractor quotations
• Identify potential scope gaps and discrepancies
• Maintain subcontractor and supplier databases
• Track RFIs, addenda, bid documents, and closing requirements
• Assist Estimators with bid levelling and pricing analysis
• Coordinate with Project Managers and other internal team members during preconstruction
• Maintain organized and accurate estimating files and documentation
• Assist with project handover from estimating to operations following successful awards

What We're Looking For

• 1-3+ years of construction-related experience in estimating, project coordination, preconstruction, or a similar role
• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field
• Exposure to ICI construction and General Contracting is considered an asset
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Understanding of construction materials, methods, and trade scopes
• Experience with quantity take-offs and subcontractor coordination is an asset
• Familiarity with estimating/construction software such as Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Excel, or similar platforms
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Motivated to develop into a more senior construction estimating role
