Our agency is proudly supporting a leading engineering consultancy in their search for an experienced Intermediate Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Vancouver, BC. This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys working on complex industrial and infrastructure projects and is ready to step into greater responsibility, leadership, and client-facing work.
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions for major industrial clients while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will bring strong technical capability, sound judgment, and the confidence to represent the organization professionally in the field and in front of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities - Design and analyze structural systems such as conveyors, bulk handling infrastructure, industrial buildings, and equipment support structures.
- Conduct and lead field inspections for heavy industrial equipment and infrastructure across ports, marine terminals, and mining operations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, engineering calculations, construction drawings, and design documentation in alignment with applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinate effectively with clients, contractors, third-party consultants, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technologists.
- Support project planning activities including cost estimating, scheduling, and quality assurance processes.
- Participate in internal technical reviews to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with quality standards.
Qualifications & Skills - Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC.
- 8-10 years of structural engineering experience in industrial and/or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian steel and concrete design codes (CSA S16, CSA A23.3, NBCC).
- Exposure to U.S. codes (AISC, ACI, ASCE) considered an asset.
- Proficiency with structural analysis/design software (e.g., RISA, SAP2000, STAAD).
- Experience with REVIT, AutoCAD, and related drafting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in client-facing environments.
- Leadership potential; experience overseeing small teams or technical scopes is an asset.
- Prior experience with field investigations, condition assessments, or retrofit/repair design is preferred.
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's license.
