Job Title: Junior-Mid-Level Estimator Company: Civil Contractor Specializing in Off-Site Civil Works Location: Burnaby Reports To: Construction Manager Job Summary: Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior-Mid-Level Estimator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating within the civil construction industry, in off-site civil works would be an advantage. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects with values up to $3 million, ensuring competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities: - Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for off-site civil works projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive estimates.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to generate cost estimates.
- Bid Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring compliance with client requirements and company standards.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities.
- Review and interpret tender documents, contracts, and specifications.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
- Obtain and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality service.
- Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor bids and proposals.
- Cost Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct cost analysis and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare and present cost reports and bid summaries to management.
- Monitor and update cost databases and historical data for future reference.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate and timely estimates.
- Participate in project handover meetings to provide detailed estimate breakdowns.
- Communicate effectively with clients, architects, and consultants as needed.
- Market Research:
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing developments.
- Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and competitive advantages.
Qualifications: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating within the civil construction industry.
