Mechanical Designer (Building Systems)

Overview

Our client is seeking a technically experienced Mechanical Designer to support the delivery of building services projects across commercial, institutional, and mixed-use sectors. This role focuses on the development of coordinated mechanical design packages from early design through construction, working closely with engineers, project managers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical construction documents including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection layouts, schematics, and BIM models using Revit MEP.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplines to ensure clash-free, fully integrated drawings.
  • Support projects through design development, tender, and construction phases, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and attending site reviews as required.
  • Review architectural and structural backgrounds to ensure mechanical systems are properly integrated and code compliant.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to track deliverables, meet schedules and budgets, and escalate resource or technical issues as needed.
  • Provide technical and administrative support through all phases of project delivery while maintaining high quality standards.
 
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Mechanical Designer role within the buildings industry.
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and familiarity with preparing full construction document sets.
  • Working knowledge of bid and tender processes, construction review, and site investigations.
  • Strong technical communication, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment.
Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per year
