Mechanical Estimator to support the preparation of contract revisions, change notices, takeoffs and full mechanical cost estimates for plumbing and HVAC piping projects.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare and price quotations related to contract revisions on ongoing projects, working closely with site teams and subtrades to assess cost impacts.
- Assist in the development of full-cost estimates for conceptual, design-build, and general tender opportunities.
- Develop detailed material, labour, and equipment cost estimates in accordance with proposals, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Review and analyze received proposals, quotations, and bid documentation.
- Assess and recommend appropriate allowances for indirect costs, design uncertainties, escalation, and contingencies.
- Review drawings and specifications to define project scope and estimate requirements.
- Perform complete quantity take-offs for the mechanical scope of work.
- Review final estimate packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to submission.
- Provide technical support during contract negotiations, change orders, and related discussions as required.
- Participate in site visits and assist with tender submissions and deliveries.
Qualifications - Experience in mechanical estimating is considered an asset.
- Background in mechanical systems and/or the construction industry.
- Proven ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of quantity take-off methods and bid preparation processes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with site personnel and project managers.
- Experience with mechanical estimating software such as Autobid or Trimble.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and computer skills.
- Self-motivated, methodical, and process-oriented work style.
