Project Manager - Fit Out (Defence Facility)

Job Title: Project Manager – Tier 1 Contractor (Defence Sector)
Location: UK (Various Sites – Security Clearance Required)
Pay Rate: £400 - £550 per day 
Employment Type: Full-Time

�� About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver high-profile construction projects within a complex, highly regulated environment (Defence/Nuclear sector). This role involves full lifecycle project ownership, from planning through to delivery and handover, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and to budget, while exceeding client expectations.

You will play a key part in managing risks, driving decision-making, reporting performance, and maintaining compliance with safety, security, and quality standards.

�� Key Responsibilities

• Lead full project delivery teams across complex, multi-million-pound projects.
• Plan, manage, and monitor all aspects of project delivery across site operations.
• Collaborate with commercial and site teams to maintain accurate project records and reporting.
• Produce and update project documentation, including programmes of work, SSOW, H&S plans, and handover documentation.
• Engage with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain and grow strong working relationships.
• Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and maintain robust governance on health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Manage supply chain, procurement, resource allocation, and site personnel.
• Handle client communications through construction software platforms (e.g., CEMAR).

✅ Essential Qualifications & Experience

• NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management or equivalent.
• CSCS Black Card
• 5–10 years’ experience delivering large-scale Tier 1 contractor projects.
• Demonstrable experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts and CEMAR.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience managing £multi-million projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Must hold or be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) – British Citizens only with 10 years UK residency.

�� Desirable Qualifications

• HND/HNC in Engineering or Construction
• Diploma in Project Management, APM, or PRINCE2
• NEC4 Certification (ICE)
• SMSTS, Fire Marshall, First Aid
• IOSH/NEBOSH
• Membership of a relevant professional body
• Experience in nuclear construction and regulated industries
• Understanding of ISO standards (9001/14001/45001)
