Senior Structural Engineer
Locations: Chilliwack, Surrey, or Kelowna
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000
 
We are partnering with a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer to join their growing structural team in the Fraser Valley or Interior BC.
 
This is a senior-level consulting role offering a balance of hands-on technical design, project leadership, client interaction, and mentorship within a collaborative and stable consulting environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality structural solutions across a diverse portfolio of building projects.
 
The Role
 
As a senior member of the structural team, you will be responsible for the design, review, and delivery of structural systems for residential, commercial, and industrial developments. You will also provide technical leadership on projects, support junior staff, and work closely with clients and other disciplines to ensure successful project outcomes.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver structural designs using steel, concrete, wood, and masonry systems
  • Analyze new and existing structures under gravity, wind, seismic, and other applicable loading conditions
  • Prepare, review, and stamp engineering drawings, calculations, and technical reports
  • Coordinate with architects, civil, mechanical, and project management teams to ensure integrated project delivery
  • Conduct site reviews, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and support construction administration
  • Perform structural condition assessments and develop upgrade or remediation recommendations
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets while ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, designers, and drafters
  • Lead client meetings and provide trusted technical advice throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support proposal preparation, fee estimates, and ongoing client relationship development
  • Ensure compliance with NBCC, CSA standards, and applicable provincial and municipal requirements
  • Identify project risks and develop practical mitigation strategies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or immediately eligible
  • Structural Engineer designation with EGBC
  • 10+ years of progressive structural engineering experience in Canada
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian building codes and CSA standards
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, or similar
  • Proven experience delivering residential, commercial, and industrial building projects
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor staff, and work collaboratively in a consulting environment
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
