The Site Superintendent will be responsible for leading all on-site project activities while working with the rest of the project team including Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Administrative staff and Site Staff to achieve successful completion of the project on time and on-budget.
  
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Read and review project drawings and specifications. Discuss with the project manager any additional scope or extras required on an ongoing basis.
  • Understand trade contracts and plan work a minimum of two weeks prior to the trade commencing work.
  • Supervise all trades on the jobsite including their scope of work, quality of work, manpower and schedule.
  • Arrange for site survey locations and final building survey certificate.
  • Coordinate all site inspections and testing in accordance with the authority having jurisdiction.
  • Organize, chair and minute weekly site trade and tool box meetings with the necessary subtrades.
  • Do quantity take-offs for materials required (concrete, lumber, gravel, etc.), obtain competitive pricing and issue purchase orders as required. Email or fax all purchase orders to head office daily.
  • Receive, verify quantities and document any damage for all deliveries to the jobsite.
  • Review and file shop drawings (SD’s), requests for information (RFI’s), site instructions (SI’s), change directives (CD’s), change orders (CO’s) and commitment change orders (CCO’s).
  • Complete required paperwork to hire, discipline, layoff and/or terminate all site employees. Rates of pay are to be approved by Human Resources before hiring. Provide employee with Application Form slip and TD1 forms – email completed forms to head office.
  • Supervise staff in accordance with BC Employment Standards and Construction policies and procedures.
  • Carry out site safety initiatives as required by Worksafe BC OHS Regulations and Company Safety Policy.
  • Enforce site cleanup on a daily basis and ensure waste management is controlled at all times.
  • Site safety inspection reports (short form) are to be completed weekly and emailed or faxed to head office each week.
  • Document and report all injuries and safety infractions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the client, owners representatives, consultant, trades and employees.
Qualifications:
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and other project documentation.
  • Must have a fluid understanding of wood frame and concrete structural construction.
  • Superior technical communication skills both in verbal and written.
  • 8-10 years of experience with institutional or other complex projects.
  • Great understanding of QA/QC.
  • Experience in site works, civil works, and commissioning projects from start to finish.
  • Journeyman carpentry ticket or technical training in construction is a benefit.
