I am currently working on behalf of my client who are one of the industry leaders for the Australian Rail business, who are seeking an experienced Senior Signalling Project Manager to join their team in Melbourne.  The company are a very reputable company who have been around a long time and have a very good reputation within the rail industry. They have various high-profile projects currently underway, as well as been awarded several new projects for 2020.

The role: 

  • Oversee all assigned contracts. Deploy and manage resources to achieve agreed predetermined project milestones and financial targets.
  • Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, procurement, and the contract program.
  • Bring all serious deviations from planned performance to immediate attention of the operations manager.  Implement corrective action when deviations from planned performance occur.
  • Report progress and financial status of the project monthly. Liaise with the client and attend progress meetings.
  • Manage and control project sub-contractors, consultants and suppliers.
  • To work in a safe manner and to notify management of any areas in which safety may be improved.
  • Plan and implement appropriate measures to utilise resources so as to achieve maximum benefit for the company. Minimise overhead expenditure.
  • Monitor budgets, resource allocation, procurement and capital expenditure across Projects.
  • Provide an internal consulting and mentoring role with regards to Project Management.
  • Development of bid strategies and preparation of proposals from a technical/implementation perspective.
  • Carrying out regular performance reviews of all staff as required.
  • Approving all requisitions in the area of responsibility
  • Implementing approved procedures
  • To work in a safe manner, to ensure staff under the control of this position work in a safe manner and to notify management of any areas in which safety may be improved.

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering management/project management
  • Engineering degree desirable
  • Prior experience working on signalling projects is highly regarded.
