Title: VP of Supply Chain & Operations
Reports to: President/CEO and Vice President, Corporate Development
Our client is searching for a VP of Supply Chain with experience in a world-class supply chain operation to help grow our 70-million-dollar business to 100 million in the 3-5 years! Celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2022, we are North America’s leading authority on natural and manufactured tiles, stone, and wood. With over 160 employees and showrooms across major Canadian cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver & Calgary, we are seeking to improve our international reputation as a luxury design firm for the architects and designers’ community as well as discerning residential customers to redefine their spaces to transcend the ordinary.

What will you do?
The VO of Supply Chain Management has many diverse and interesting responsibilities, the primary ones are outlined below:
- Responsible for driving the strategy and coordinating the day-to-day execution of our supply chain for our key technology products and services to support our infrastructure.
- This person will be responsible for leading a team that handles supply chain strategy, operations, and national logistics
- Lead the development of supply chain strategy recognizing business growth opportunities
- Lead a team of direct and indirect reports of approximately 7 people by providing leadership to business unit supply chain members, establishing goals and development plans.
- Manage a supply chain operating budget in excess of $2M in direct salaries, $4m in purchased logistics services, and $18M in inventory.
- Work to develop efficient, cost-effective supply chain strategies and manage company inventory
- Implement, monitor, and review the overall procurement and logistics strategy of the company.
- Oversee all the purchasing of the inventory for Stone Tile and ensure that the inventory turns at an industry-leading metric
- Provide thought leadership for strategic sourcing inventory according to a rigorous and ongoing A, B, and C analysis of inventory SKUs for each of the Company’s main product categories.
- Provide leadership for the Company’s Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes
- Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement opportunities for freight consolidation and cost reductions as well as carrier optimization.
- Full accountability for the performance in the department; leverage the use of metrics to measure performance and conduct root cause analysis to prevent error reoccurrence and improve effectiveness in the department.
- Liaise with the Pricing Manager to ensure that competitive pricing is negotiated for specific jobs
- Develop, implement, and monitor performance metrics for inbound and outbound transportation.
- Utilize data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting tools to forecast supply and inventory needs across the organization.
- Work closely with Sr. Procurement and Logistics manager on strategic sourcing and logistics objectives.
- Work with cross-functional team on improving inventory forecasting and putting in place best practice strategies to deal to help improve inventory turns.
- Work with key logistics suppliers and negotiate the best possible cost and service for these services.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for supply chain planning and forecasting; enact changes based on findings
- Develop and, if necessary, implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans in pursuit of risk management goals.
- Facilitate, lead, and support supplier relationships, and periodically conduct supplier capability assessments.
- Regularly report on supply chain performance to the executive team and other stakeholders.
- Seek and establish ways to further align the supply chain unit with the organization’s financial revenue goals. Compiles departmental budgets and assists in financial forecasting.
- Manage an annual budget and capital investment plan for supply chain functions across the organization.
- Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third-party suppliers and/or service providers.
- Manage courier/carrier services and establish service level agreements to ensure services are delivered as promised.
- Conduct profit and loss management for the company’s logistics function; manage logistics budget.
- Deal with imports and exports shipped to and from the company; work with customs brokers to ensure compliance.
- Effectively communicate changes and concerns to the President, other members of the Management Team, and/or departments as required.
What type of experience and skills do you have?
- 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, and Warehousing experience
- A Master’s in Business Administration or Supply Chain is preferred
- APICS (ASCM) Supply Chain Designation or other Supply Chain designations required
- Direct experience building out operations and supply chain for world-class organizations
- Project Management and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is a definite asset
- Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, and manage finances allocated to the supply of materials while operating within a budget.
- Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
- Ability to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Strong aptitude and ability to provide unparalleled customer service
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
- Able to learn and work on various ERP systems.
What is considered an asset?
- Previous management experience
- Knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook and Epicor P21
