Estimator - Healthcare Construction

About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing General Contractor with a strong portfolio of healthcare and institutional construction projects throughout the GTA. They specialize in hospital renovations, healthcare facility upgrades, medical clinics, long-term care facilities, and occupied-space construction projects that require meticulous planning, coordination, and execution.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Estimator to join their Etobicoke office. This position is ideal for an estimator who enjoys complex healthcare projects and wants to work alongside an experienced team delivering critical healthcare infrastructure.
 
Responsibilities:

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents for healthcare and institutional projects.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Prepare comprehensive bid submissions and tender packages.
• Coordinate tender activities and ensure deadlines are met.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options.
• Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and clients.
• Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings, and project kick-off meetings as required.
• Support project handovers and collaborate closely with Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical costing information, and bid records.
• Assist with budgeting, procurement planning, and pre-construction services.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of estimating experience within the ICI construction industry.
• Previous experience estimating healthcare, hospital, long-term care, medical clinic, laboratory, or institutional construction projects is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of healthcare construction requirements, occupied-space renovations, phased construction, and infection prevention and control (IPAC) protocols is considered an asset.
• Experience preparing detailed quantity take-offs and estimates across multiple divisions and trades.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and tendering procedures.
• Ability to review and evaluate subcontractor pricing and negotiate competitive bids.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Planswift, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore, Microsoft Excel, and other estimating software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Postsecondary education in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related field is preferred.
