Perform the complete cost estimating process of new build construction within the commercial, institutional (or similar) projects in the Toronto, Mississauga and Hamilton areas.

Must have experience in the Canadian market and must be familiar with estimating programs as well as standard estimating takeoff.  Projects range from 1m up to and above 30m in size. The estimator shall manage and estimate each project assigned. They will be responsible for soliciting RFQs, reviewing and levelling bids and analyzing all costs. The estimator will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and team-building skills.  
  • Maintain prospective project bid list.
  • Prepare bid packages.
  • Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and visits as required by clients.
  • Prepare and track all pre-bid correspondence with the authority/client, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and execute detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing complete quantity take-offs for all trades.
  • Collect and analyze subcontractor/vendor bids and quotations.
  • Prepare and maintain current cost data for accurate unit pricing.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with subcontractor and vendors
  • Prepare bid presentations with management.
  • Perform all phases of budget estimating functions from conceptual design through design development and final budget based on construction documents.
  • Develop and prepare Estimates/Budgets including Qualifications/Bid Exclusions.
  • Prepare detail cost analysis of scope changes and assist/support Sr. Project Management staff members in the field.
  • 5+ years of proven estimating experience.  
  • Previous hotel experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, architectural, construction management or related degrees preferred.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines.
  • Must possess strengths in verbal and written communications; ability to adapt communications/presentations and deliver clear and concise reports and analysis to senior management
  • Requires the ability to meet deadlines and work in a structured environment.   
  • It requires the ability to be self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven communication skills with clients, subcontractors, architects, and engineers.
  • It also requires a high degree of ethics and integrity.
  • Proficient in Prolog, Own Screen Take Off or other similar estimating software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
