From water, sewer and storm systems to road rehabilitation and site servicing, they deliver safe, high-quality utility infrastructure that keeps communities flowing. They're growing fast and looking for a seasoned Civil Superintendent who thrives on delivering excellence and building strong teams.

Role Overview

The Civil Superintendent – Utilities is accountable for onsite leadership and execution of civil utility works, including watermain, sanitary, storm, services, and associated roadway infrastructure. You’ll ensure projects are delivered on schedule, on budget, and with exceptional quality — while fostering a safety-first culture and strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery
  • Lead planning, execution, and performance of civil utility projects across Calgary.
  • Coordinate work sequences, crew assignments, trades, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor daily production, enforce quality standards, and ensure contract compliance.
  • Proactively identify and resolve construction challenges on site.
Safety & Compliance
  • Champion safety and health compliance; ensure all activities align with company and regulatory standards (COR, WCB, City of Calgary specs).
  • Conduct daily safety huddles, toolbox talks, and field inspections.
  • Enforce environmental protection and traffic control protocols.
Team & Subcontractor Leadership
  • Direct, mentor, and develop field crews and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate performance, set expectations, and facilitate solutions to operational issues.
  • Represent the company in client and stakeholder meetings as required.
Reporting & Communication
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and production records.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients.
  • Track and forecast progress relative to project milestones, budgets, equipment needs, and material deliveries.
Qualifications/Experience
  • 8+ years of progressive civil construction experience in utilities (water, sewer, storm, site servicing).
  • Minimum 3–5 years in a Superintendent or Leads Supervisor role.
  • Experience working with municipal specifications, regulatory inspections, and utility coordination.
Education & Certifications
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 3/air endorsement is a plus).
  • Occupational Health & Safety certifications (e.g., COR, First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Traffic Control).

  • Proficient with reporting tools, digital field apps, and project documentation.

Salary Range $110,000 – $150,000 + based on experience and certification portfolio
