Commercial Manager – Civils & Infrastructure (UK) 
  
�� Role Purpose The Commercial Manager will lead project‑level and regional commercial functions across UK civils & infrastructure works, ensuring strong financial performance, contractual compliance, and effective commercial governance. The role manages QS teams, oversees NEC contracts, drives margin protection, and supports strategic decision‑making across highways, utilities, rail, water, and public‑sector frameworks.
  
��️ Key Responsibilities
  • Project Commercial Leadership — Lead commercial delivery across multiple civils projects, ensuring robust cost control and governance.
  • NEC Contract Management — Oversee NEC3/NEC4 administration, compensation events, early warnings, and change control.
  • Financial Reporting — Manage CVRs, cost forecasting, cashflow, and monthly commercial reporting.
  • Margin Protection — Drive cost efficiency, value engineering, and commercial risk mitigation.
  • Team Management — Lead QS and Assistant QS teams; support development, performance, and succession planning.
  • Procurement & Subcontract Management — Oversee tendering, subcontract negotiation, contract award, and ongoing commercial performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement — Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, JV partners, and internal delivery teams.
  • Claims & Dispute Resolution — Lead claims strategy, negotiation, and resolution to protect commercial outcomes.
  • Compliance & Governance — Ensure adherence to UK procurement rules, statutory requirements, and internal commercial processes.
  
�� Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Economics (RICS chartered preferred).
  • 7+ years’ commercial experience within UK civils & infrastructure (highways, utilities, rail, water, energy).
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and UK procurement frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing commercial teams and delivering strong financial outcomes.
  • Demonstrable track record in cost control, forecasting, CVRs, and dispute avoidance.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  
�� Desirable Experience
  • Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 UK contractors.
  • Background in major frameworks (National Highways, Network Rail, Water Alliances).
  • Experience in digital commercial systems, cost databases, and enterprise reporting tools.
  • JV or alliance delivery experience.
