Our client is a well-established Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Contractor delivering mechanical scopes across Ireland and Europe. Due to continued organic growth, they are seeking an experienced
Lead Mechanical Engineer to take technical leadership of their Engineering Department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the engineering team and overseeing the technical execution of mechanical engineering and pipework projects, with a strong focus on the Data Centre sector.
The role will work closely with project teams, BIM, fabrication, procurement, subcontractors, clients and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the mechanical engineering team across multiple projects.
- Provide technical guidance, leadership and mentoring to Engineers.
- Review and approve engineering designs, drawings and technical submissions.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements and applicable standards.
- Ensure fabrication drawings and installation packages are issued for fabrication within required project timelines.
- Support tendering and estimating activities where required.
- Coordinate with the BIM team to support project delivery.
- Oversee the procurement of project materials and management of subcontractors.
- Support commercial negotiations where required.
- Identify, manage and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
- Oversee engineering support for site installation activities.
- Attend client, design and project progress meetings.
- Work closely with project and site teams to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the engineering and construction phases of projects.
- Carry out other engineering and project-related duties as required.
Requirements - 5+ years' experience in a similar Mechanical Engineering / Lead Engineering role.
- Relevant 3rd level degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong experience within the Data Centre sector.
- Experience with mechanical piping systems, including stainless steel and carbon steel pipework.
- Strong understanding of engineering design, fabrication and installation processes.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical submissions and fabrication documentation.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience with Navisworks, Bluebeam, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Full Irish working rights / EU citizenship required — no visa sponsorship is provided.
