Mechanical Project Engineer | Dublin

SSA are currently working with a market leading Mechanical Contractor who are seeking to hire a Mechanical Project Engineer for a healthcare project based in Dublin. 

Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the Mechanical Installation Team on complex healthcare and hospital projects, ensuring compliance with clinical, regulatory, and client standards.
Manage, control, and track the flow of project information, technical documentation, and as-built records in accordance with QA/QC procedures.
Produce and review detailed engineering deliverables including sketches, coordinated layout drawings, schematics, and installation details using AutoCAD and Revit/BIM environments.
Develop, review, and implement installation, testing, and commissioning plans and programmes, including site-specific RAMS, ITPs, and commissioning test packs in line with healthcare facility requirements.
Coordinate and manage vendor packages and specialist subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of work scopes, integration with building systems, and compliance with specifications.
Installation, Commissioning & HSE Coordination
Oversee and coordinate vendor plant start-up and commissioning activities within live or operational hospital environments.
Manage installation and commissioning of HVAC systems (including DW144 ductwork), chilled water, heating, and ventilation systems.
Support integration, testing, and validation of Building Management Systems (BMS) in healthcare settings.
Oversee installation and commissioning of air conditioning systems, ensuring environmental control requirements for critical healthcare areas are met.
Coordinate thermal insulation works, specialist welding activities, and associated mechanical services installations.
Manage third-party specialists including air and water balancing contractors and pipe cleaning/sterilisation providers.
Ensure full compliance with healthcare-specific infection control, shutdown planning, and permit-to-work procedures.
Track, monitor, and report project progress against programme milestones, highlighting risks and delays.
Maintain and manage QA/QC documentation, EHS compliance records, procurement tracking logs, and RFI registers.
Act as a key interface between client representatives, design consultants, multidisciplinary engineers, and project stakeholders.

Role Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer, ideally within the healthcare, hospital, pharmaceutical, or mission-critical building sector.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, BMS integration, commissioning processes, and complex mechanical installations in regulated environments.
Proven experience managing subcontractors, vendor packages, and commissioning activities on large-scale projects.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, RAMS development, and construction health & safety regulations.
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced project environment.
Full clean driving licence and valid permit to work in Ireland.
