A multidisciplinary engineering firm based in Alberta, with a growing municipal infrastructure practice, is looking for a Municipal Engineer to join their Calgary or Edmonton team, focused on conveyance infrastructure such as water distribution, sanitary sewers, storm sewers and force mains.

This is a technical delivery role covering the full life cycle of linear infrastructure, from inspection and condition assessment through asset management, rehabilitation, repair, replacement, upgrade and extension. You'll bring both open cut (trench) and trenchless methods to bear, choosing the right solution for each project's ground conditions, risk and constraints, with sustainability and resilience front of mind throughout.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, design and manage underground conveyance projects across their full life cycle, from assessment through construction
  • Assess buried infrastructure condition and develop asset management and prioritization strategies
  • Evaluate and apply trench and trenchless methods, selecting the right solution for each project's ground conditions and constraints
  • Embed sustainability and resilience into design and long term system performance
  • Develop design drawings, specifications and contract documents, and oversee construction inspections and contract administration
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies across multidisciplinary projects
  • Contribute to proposal writing and business development
  • Mentor junior engineers and technologists, and stay current on industry trends
Requirements
  • Registered as a P.Eng. (or eligible for immediate registration) with APEGA
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in municipal infrastructure engineering, with demonstrated project delivery and construction administration
  • Working knowledge of water distribution and wastewater/stormwater collection systems
  • Practical understanding of trench and trenchless construction methods and their appropriate application
  • Familiarity with municipal servicing standards (e.g., EPCOR, City of Calgary and other Alberta municipal standards)
Qualifications
  • Experience with condition assessment and asset management of buried infrastructure
  • Hands on experience with construction observation and contract administration
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; hydraulic modelling software and GIS tools are assets
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self motivated and adaptable, comfortable managing multiple projects at different phases with competing deadlines
Compensation
  • Salary up to $160,000, depending on experience
  • Annual bonus in the 5% to 20% range
  • Shareholder options available after 5 years
  • Relocation support available for candidates moving within Canada
  • Clear room to progress further within the business
