Job Title: Project Quantity Surveyor
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: Competitive + Package (DOE)
The Company
Our client is a well-established contractor delivering projects across the residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors throughout Hertfordshire and the wider Home Counties. With a strong secured pipeline and a reputation for quality delivery, they're now looking to appoint a Project QS to take ownership of the commercial function on a live scheme.
The Role

• Take full commercial responsibility for an individual project, from post-contract through to final account
• Prepare monthly cost/value reconciliations (CVRs) and report on project profitability
• Manage subcontractor procurement, including enquiries, comparisons, and order placement
• Value works completed and process subcontractor payments in line with contract terms
• Measure, price, and agree variations with the client/main contractor
• Prepare and negotiate final accounts with both client and subcontractors
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities, escalating to the Commercial/Contracts Manager as needed
• Liaise closely with site management to ensure commercial and operational alignment
• Support the wider commercial team on tender adjudications and cost planning where required

About You

• Previous experience as a Project QS, ideally within [main contracting / fit-out / groundworks — insert package type]
• Sound knowledge of JCT and/or NEC forms of contract
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing full project lifecycles
• Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with clients, subcontractors, and site teams
• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Full UK driving licence
