Senior Quantity Surveyor | Main Contractor | Data Centre & Industrial Build About the Client: SSA are recruiting on behalf of leading Contractor operating across the UK and Europe within the Data Centres, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, & Commercial sectors. Due to continued success, they are looking to further strengthen their team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor in Buckinghamshire.
About the Role: The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the management of projects, budget preparation and estimates, progress reports, final account preparation, client interaction and attending various design team / site meetings.
As Lead/Senior QS you will have responsibility for direction of the function in relation to relevant projects; which they must be commercially aware, with a high level of commitment, initiative and enthusiasm
About the Responsibilities: - Commercial Management of work Packages
- Commercial responsibility for allocated construction packages, ensuring effective cost control from procurement through to final account.
- Contract Administration
- Administer subcontract agreements in line with contractual requirements, managing valuations, variations, payment notices, and commercial correspondence.
- Cost Reporting & Forecasting
- Prepare and present accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and cashflows, highlighting risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
- Change & Claims Management
- Manage variations, compensation events, and potential claims, ensuring timely agreement and protection of the project's commercial position.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with project management, engineering, and site teams to ensure commercial decisions support programme, quality, and data centre delivery objectives.
Requirements; - Degree in Quantity Surveying
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with proven track record in dealing with Subcontractors and Clients in relation to Valuations, Variations, Final Accounts and cost reporting
- Experience within commercial/industrial/data centre build desirable
- Displays through understanding of specifications, bills of quantities, and drawings
- Displays high capability of extracting quantities from drawings and issuing enquiries to sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure that accurate quotations are received within specified time frames
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office and other Quantity Surveying Packages
- Demonstrates excellent budgetary responsibility
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to provide and explain accurate reporting.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
- Self-starter and ability to organise the workday around assigned activities and priorities with minimum supervision. Must be highly flexible with a high level commitment to success.
- Ability to work successfully as part of a team with wide variety of individuals demonstrating effective interpersonal skills.
