About the Client
Our client is an established M&E contractor delivering mechanical, electrical and public health packages across a range of construction projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

About the Role
Working alongside the Senior Commercial Manager, you will receive hands-on training while supporting the commercial and cost management of multiple M&E projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop their career in quantity surveying, gaining practical experience across procurement, measurements, valuations, cost control, variations and subcontractor management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the procurement and commercial evaluation of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Support the preparation of subcontract documentation and tender comparisons
  • Assist with Bills of Quantities, schedules and commercial documentation
  • Complete measurements and take-offs from drawings and specifications
  • Support the preparation of interim valuations and variations
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Cost Value Reconciliations
  • Help identify, record and assess project changes
  • Assist with subcontractor, consultant and supplier payments
  • Draft commercial correspondence for review
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date commercial records
  • Work closely with commercial, design and site teams
  • Attend procurement, commercial and site meetings when required
  • Provide general commercial support across multiple projects
  • Follow company procedures and health and safety requirements
Skills and Experience
  • An interest in quantity surveying and the M&E construction industry
  • Some construction, commercial or M&E experience would be beneficial but is not essential
  • A relevant qualification or current studies in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related subject would be advantageous
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Willingness to learn and develop within an M&E commercial environment
