Job Description

This is a senior role for a transportation engineer who wants to lead the bigger jobs, be the first person clients call, and help grow the practice.

My client is a multidisciplinary Alberta consultancy that has been around for close to half a century and is now planning for the next one. Their team is young and talented, and people tend to stay, as turnover is very low. Usually they promote from within, but right now they need experienced leadership to join the team.

Responsibilities

• Leading major transportation projects as PM, technical lead or subject matter expert
• Planning, analysis, and functional and detailed design across roadways and complete streets, interchanges, intersections, signals, roundabouts, traffic calming, active transportation, transit, parking and access management
• Overseeing reports, drawings, specs and cost estimates to municipal, provincial and national standards
• Managing schedules, budgets and subconsultants, and coordinating with the in house civil, land development, survey and landscape teams
• Building client relationships, leading proposals and finding new work
• Mentoring a young team and leading QC and technical reviews

Qualifications

• P.Eng. with APEGA registration (or eligible)
• 12 years or more in transportation engineering, ideally in consulting
• Strong in transportation planning, design and operational analysis
• Synchro, SIDRA, VISUM, HCS and AutoTURN, with AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred
• TORUS, ARCADY, Rodel or ArcGIS a bonus
• Proven project and team management, and confident writing proposals
• Valid driver’s licence, able to pass a background check, and open to occasional travel across western Canada

Compensation

Up to $160,000 base, plus bonus (D.O.E).
