Transportation Lead A multidisciplinary engineering firm based in Alberta, with decades of experience across transportation, land development and geomatics work, is looking for a Transportation Lead to join their Calgary or Edmonton team.
This role acts as a trusted advisor to public and private sector clients, providing strategic and technical leadership on complex transportation infrastructure initiatives. You'll guide the planning, analysis and design of projects, shape decision making, and help advance practical, forward looking solutions across the transportation practice.
Responsibilities - Lead complex, multidisciplinary transportation programs and major projects, acting as Project Manager, Technical Lead or Subject Matter Expert
- Guide the planning, analysis and design of transportation systems, including roadways, intersections, interchanges, roundabouts, active transportation, transit and parking studies
- Oversee technical deliverables including reports, drawings, specifications and cost estimates, ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial and national standards
- Manage project schedules, budgets and subconsultants, and monitor progress to keep deliverables on track
- Build and maintain client relationships with municipalities, agencies and stakeholders, and represent the firm at meetings and public engagement
- Lead proposal development, from scope and scheduling through fee estimation, and help pursue new business opportunities
- Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior and other staff, supporting their development
- Uphold quality control standards and contribute to improving team processes and best practices
Requirements - A Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Minimum 12 years of relevant transportation engineering experience, preferably in a consulting role
- A P.Eng. is required
- A member in good standing with APEGA, or eligible for registration
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
- Ability to pass a background check
Qualifications - Strong technical background in transportation planning, design and operational analysis, with familiarity across municipal, provincial and national standards
- Experience with transportation modeling and design software such as Synchro, SIDRA, VISUM, AutoCAD and Civil 3D (Rodel, ARCADY, TORUS and ArcGIS are assets)
- Solid project management skills, with a track record leading engineering projects and teams
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build client relationships and present technical information clearly
- Proficiency in proposal development
