Design Manager – Facades Sub-Contractor – South Coast – £45K-£60K DOE
About the Client: SSA are recruiting on behalf of a Building Envelope Sub-Contractor that operate across the South of the UK in the facades sector on commercial, residential and industrial works.
As a sub-contractor they aim to work very closely with main contractors to provide expert knowledge and experience in all stages from the earliest design through to final completion. They are a Complete Envelope cladding company who typically work on projects between values of £1m and £6m.
With a high number of projects in motion they are also now due to secure a number of additional projects, they require an additional Design Manager to lead selected projects.
About the Role & Duties;
- To work on a total design solution specific to each project
- Ensuring compliance to client’s recommendations/requirements and company procedures
- Will be responsible for tasks relating to the project, instructed and reporting to the Senior Design Manager
- Managing the design team. (Internal, External or combination of the two)
- Managing the design process using his/her commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise
- Supporting, understanding, and advising the client as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development of a building design
- Encouraging and inspiring designers to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources, and talents in a cost-effective way
- Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards, and codes of practice, where appropriate
- Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales
- Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction
About the Requirements;
- Degree, HND or equivalent, ideally in a design or construction related subject.
- You will have worked as a Design Manager/Senior Designer for a façade sub-contractor as part of your previous employment
- Have a thorough understanding of all relevant codes, practice, regulations and guidance documents
- You will have high standards of numeracy, oral and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate a capability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively and on own initiative
- Membership to a professional body is desirable not essential
- You will be someone who takes ownership for their work and be able to represent the company’s interests in a tactically appropriate way
- The candidate will have good communication skills as this role will involve extensive communication to internal and external clients
