About the Client: Our client provides design and build valued engineering foundations solutions from their in house team of chartered structural & geotechnical engineers. Their service offering covers, Piling, Groundworks & Civils, Reinforced concrete foundations and structures.
About the Role:
- Can work with our structural engineering team to determine the most economical foundation solution for a project
- Has a deep understanding of the behaviour of clay soils in determining if clay heave if will occur.
- Has experience of identifying the need for different types of foundations i.e. trench fill foundations, ground improvement, soil stabilization, vibro stone columns, different type of piles.
- They do not need to be an expert in designing these elements, as once we have identified the optimal solution, we can go to service providers for detailed design/quotes.
- Understanding of ground contamination, specifically ground gases, and how they affect our foundation design.
- Has confidence to specify further site investigation to clarify assumptions in design, i.e further boreholes, further Atterberg testing etc…
- Experience dealing with warranty providers in gaining acceptance of Geotechnical solutions proposed
The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications / experience / aptitude:
- Ideally hold Chartered status
- Plays an active role in either the ICE or Geological Society, attending presentations and courses, staying up to date with the latest developments within the industry.
- Has a deep understanding of soil mechanics and ground improvement technics
- Clear communicator
- Has confidence and authority
- Can be client facing
