Senior Structural Engineer to join the Structures and Tunnels team.
 
This position will give you an opportunity to work on a variety of projects including multi-disciplinary design-bid build, design-build and P3 projects and develop your experience on mentoring EIT’s and working collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and technologists.
 
Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage and direct structural plans, sections, and details for structural construction drawings.
  • Measure, assess and sketch structural layout and details for new and existing buildings, bridges, tanks underground structures, foundations, tunnels and shafts.
  • Prepare detail design calculations, planning reports, technical specifications, contract documents and proposals.
  • Providing senior review and professional authentication of memos, reports, drawings and other engineering documents.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies and utility companies and contractors.
  • Leading and participating in Business Development initiatives including structural, heavy civil, tunnel and building projects.
  • Review geotechnical and hydrogeological reports and draft terms of reference
  • Quality assurance reviews or drawings, specifications, reports and other deliverables.
  • Leading proposals and tracking prospects.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technologists, and designers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer with minimum 15 years’ demonstrated experience in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and wood design.
  • Demonstrates superior English communication skills both oral and written.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. with PEO.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills in structural engineering.
  • Possesses good experience in working to Ontario and National Building Codes along with relevant industry codes of practice.
  • Possess experience in the design of water and wastewater facilities, water retaining structures, and underground construction.
  • Experience with inspection, condition assessments, and rehabilitation of existing structures.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams.
  • A team player with a willingness to help others and collaborating with team members.
