Senior Structural Engineer to join the Structures and Tunnels team.
This position will give you an opportunity to work on a variety of projects including multi-disciplinary design-bid build, design-build and P3 projects and develop your experience on mentoring EIT’s and working collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and technologists.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage and direct structural plans, sections, and details for structural construction drawings.
- Measure, assess and sketch structural layout and details for new and existing buildings, bridges, tanks underground structures, foundations, tunnels and shafts.
- Prepare detail design calculations, planning reports, technical specifications, contract documents and proposals.
- Providing senior review and professional authentication of memos, reports, drawings and other engineering documents.
- Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies and utility companies and contractors.
- Leading and participating in Business Development initiatives including structural, heavy civil, tunnel and building projects.
- Review geotechnical and hydrogeological reports and draft terms of reference
- Quality assurance reviews or drawings, specifications, reports and other deliverables.
- Leading proposals and tracking prospects.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technologists, and designers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer with minimum 15 years’ demonstrated experience in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and wood design.
- Demonstrates superior English communication skills both oral and written.
- Registered as a P.Eng. with PEO.
- Possesses strong analytical skills in structural engineering.
- Possesses good experience in working to Ontario and National Building Codes along with relevant industry codes of practice.
- Possess experience in the design of water and wastewater facilities, water retaining structures, and underground construction.
- Experience with inspection, condition assessments, and rehabilitation of existing structures.
- Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams.
- A team player with a willingness to help others and collaborating with team members.
