Construction Estimator

About the Company
We are a growing General Contractor based in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area, specializing in ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) and multi-family residential construction. Our team is focused on delivering high-quality projects while building long-term relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Construction Estimator with a minimum of 3 years of experience to support our preconstruction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating bids, and supporting the tendering process from initial pursuit through submission.
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for ICI and multi-family residential projects
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate scopes and pricing
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Coordinate and compile bid submissions, ensuring compliance with client requirements
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and cost-saving strategies during preconstruction
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal estimate reviews
• Assist in maintaining and updating cost databases and historical project data
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams for project handover

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in construction estimating (ICI and/or multi-family residential preferred)
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems
• Experience with tendering processes, subcontractor coordination, and bid closing
• Knowledge of CCDC contract formats and local construction practices in Ontario
• Proficiency in estimating and takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Excel)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have

• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
• Experience working with local consultants and trades in the KWC/GTA market
• Familiarity with software such as Procore, MS Project, or similar platforms
