Our client is a well-established construction company looking for an experienced, CPA-designated Accountant to join their team. About the Role Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for the full cycle of accounting operations, with a strong focus on construction project financials. You will work closely with project managers and site teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and support sound business decisions.
Key Responsibilities - Manage full-cycle accounting including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee job costing, budget tracking, and project financial reporting
- Monitor WIP (work-in-progress) schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Prepare GST/HST filings and ensure compliance with CRA requirements
- Assist with year-end preparation and liaise with external auditors
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
- Support senior leadership with financial forecasting and cash flow management
What They're Looking For - Active CPA designation (required)
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of job costing and project-based accounting
- Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Procore, or similar)
- Solid understanding of Canadian tax compliance and reporting requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
