Construction Safety Officer (CSO)
Location: Lower Mainland, BC
Compensation: $45-$50/hr (salaried position available)
Benefits: Extended health and pension after 3 months | 2 weeks vacation (negotiable) | Company truck


Our client is a well-established civil construction company operating across the Lower Mainland, BC, with a team of 65-70 full-time employees and 10-25 contract truckers and flaggers. They are looking for an experienced Construction Safety Officer to join their team and lead safety across active civil construction sites specialising in utilities, road works, land development, and municipal infrastructure improvements.


What You'll Do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site safety plans, programs, and procedures in compliance with BC WorkSafeBC regulations
  • Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits across multiple active project sites including utility installations, road works, land development, and municipal infrastructure projects
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up
  • Deliver safety orientations and toolbox talks for full-time staff and contract workers including truckers and flaggers
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and reporting
  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and municipal stakeholders to foster a strong safety culture
  • Liaise with WorkSafeBC and other regulatory bodies as required
What You Bring
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a construction safety role, ideally in civil construction
  • Demonstrated experience on utility, road works, land development, and municipal infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of BC OHS regulations and WorkSafeBC requirements
  • NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation preferred
  • Experience working with unionized environments an asset (CSW Local 1611 familiarity a plus)
  • Valid BC driver's licence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of a workforce
