Graduate Quantity Surveyor – Civils & Infrastructure
  
�� Role Purpose The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial delivery of UK civils & infrastructure projects, including highways, utilities, rail, water, energy and public‑realm works. The role provides hands‑on experience with NEC contracts, cost control, procurement, and change management, with a clear development pathway toward chartership (RICS / ICES).
  
��️ Key Responsibilities

• Cost Planning — Assist in preparing cost plans, budgets and cashflow forecasts for infrastructure works.
• Measurement & Take‑Off — Undertake detailed measurement from drawings, BIM models and specifications.
• NEC Contract Support — Support administration of NEC3/NEC4 contracts including early warnings, CE assessments and payment mechanisms.
• Tendering & Procurement — Help prepare BOQs, tender packs, analyse contractor submissions and support procurement decisions.
• Valuations & Payments — Assist with monthly valuations, applications for payment and financial reporting.
• Change Control — Support identification, pricing and tracking of variations and compensation events.
• Cost Reporting — Maintain cost trackers, commercial dashboards and project financial records.
• Stakeholder Coordination — Work closely with engineers, planners, subcontractors and client teams to ensure commercial alignment.
• Risk & Opportunity — Contribute to commercial risk reviews and value‑engineering activities.

  
�� Required Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics (RICS‑accredited preferred).
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts, UK civils standards and infrastructure terminology.
• Competent in Excel, cost databases and measurement software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Full UK driving licence (typical requirement for site‑based roles).

  
�� Desirable Skills

• Placement or internship experience on civils, utilities or infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of BIM, digital measurement tools and common data environments.
• Knowledge of FIDIC or UK public‑sector procurement frameworks.
• Progress toward RICS / ICES chartership.
