Intermediate Mechanical Engineer

Our client, an established and growing engineering consulting firm, is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.) to join their collaborative and forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities

 
Design & Technical Execution
  • Perform mechanical engineering design in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and drawing markups to drafting and design staff.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and field investigations to gather project information and verify design requirements.
  • Support the development of innovative and practical engineering solutions.
Project Coordination
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and external consultants to coordinate project designs.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate progress with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, project schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Support project delivery while ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timelines.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
  • Review engineering drawings and project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews.
  • Assist with revisions and updates to project deliverables.
  • Act as Engineer of Record (EOR) when required and provide professional sealing of discipline-specific design packages.
Construction Administration
  • Conduct field reviews and site inspections during construction.
  • Respond to contractor requests for information and technical inquiries.
  • Provide technical support throughout the construction phase to ensure project success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience.
  • Strong understanding of building mechanical systems and engineering design principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including:
    • Ontario Building Code (OBC)
    • National Building Code (NBC)
    • ASHRAE Standards
    • CAN/CSA Standards
    • NFPA Standards
  • Experience with Carrier HAP software is considered a strong asset.
  • P.Eng. registration in Quebec and/or New Brunswick is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary of $75,000 - $100,000, based on experience and qualifications.
