Full Job Description This company is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering team. The successful candidate will be involved across procurement, fabrication, construction support, inspections and project management on a variety of piping and steel fabrication and installation projects.
The role will work closely with Project Managers, fabrication teams, clients and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities - Provide engineering and construction support across piping and steel fabrication and installation projects.
- Support the procurement of materials, equipment and services required for project delivery.
- Compile and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Coordinate fabrication activities with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Carry out material inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
- Complete fabrication inspections and ensure work is completed to the required standards.
- Carry out assembly and installation inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend client meetings and provide technical support where required.
- Prepare regular project progress reports and communicate updates to the Project Manager and wider team.
- Support project cost control and monitor project expenditure.
- Assist with managing project timelines, resources and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations and quality requirements.
- Identify and resolve technical issues during fabrication, assembly and installation.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project performance, reliability and quality.
- Attend client or manufacturing sites when required.
- Carry out other engineering and project-related duties as required.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience within mechanical engineering, fabrication, construction or a related environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with piping, steel fabrication or mechanical installation would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling and engineering software such as Navisworks and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical documentation and project specifications.
- Experience with material, fabrication, assembly or installation inspections.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers and project teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider engineering team.
- Ability to work under pressure in a project-driven environment.
