Senior Structural Engineer

Join a dynamic Toronto team as a Senior Structural Engineer to bolster their ranks and contribute to an exciting array of Rail transit infrastructure projects, including High Speed, Metro, LRT, and streetcars.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with clients on conceptual design definition, aiding in technical feasibility assessments, and ensuring constructability.
  • Spearheading a structural team throughout the design process.
  • Ensuring seamless coordination with other disciplines, promptly soliciting inputs and delivering results.
  • Presenting design alternatives and solutions to both contractors and clients.
  • Scrutinizing technical documentation to pinpoint critical defects.
  • Guiding modelers in producing BIM models and drawings.
  • Conducting regular site visits to verify construction adherence to design specifications and codes.
  • Crafting detailed structural plans and construction details.
  • Reviewing shop drawings and providing field services during design and construction phases.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Registered P. Eng. in Ontario.
  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in structural design within rail and transit projects.
  • Experience in complex construction projects, including P3, Infrastructure, and underground LRT and subway systems.
  • Proficiency in reinforced concrete structures.
  • Knowledge of pre-stress concrete and precast construction desirable.
  • Familiarity with steel structures advantageous.
  • Understanding of underground structures and geostructures (Support of Excavation, walls, invert slabs, cut-and-cover structures) desirable.
  • Technical proficiency in designing structural building systems.
  • Familiarity with structural design software such as SAP2000 and Robot Structural Analysis expected.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Navisworks, and Bluebeam desirable.
  • Understanding of relevant design standards and codes.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with the ability to lead and motivate project structural teams.
  • Collaborative attitude in a multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and French with staff and clients at all levels, both internally and externally.
