An established and highly successful manufacturing business is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Engineering Manager to join its engineering leadership team. This is a permanent, site-based position in their manufacturing facility in County Tipperary.

Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in leading maintenance operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring maximum equipment reliability across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Role Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will assist in managing the day-to-day activities of the engineering department, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of all plant and equipment. You will provide technical leadership to the engineering team while supporting planned maintenance, capital projects and continuous improvement programmes.
Key Responsibilities - Support the Engineering Manager in the day-to-day management of the engineering department.
- Lead and motivate a team of maintenance technicians and engineers.
- Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes are effectively implemented and continuously improved.
- Minimise equipment downtime through effective fault finding, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support the planning and execution of engineering projects, equipment installations and site improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability, efficiency and performance.
- Monitor engineering KPIs and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and food safety standards.
- Assist in managing engineering budgets, contractors and external service providers.
- Promote best engineering practices and foster a proactive maintenance culture.
- Participate in audits and ensure all engineering documentation is maintained to a high standard.
Candidate Requirements - Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, pharmaceutical or high-volume production environment is highly desirable.
- Experience supervising or leading maintenance teams.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with automated production equipment, PLC-controlled machinery and process plant.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent leadership capabilities.
What's on Offer - Salary of €85,000 - €90,000.
